Guice was back at practice Thursday and received clearance to play Saturday against the visiting Orange.

“(Guice) came to us today, said, ‘Coach, I’m feeling better. I want to practice,'” Orgeron said. “He practiced pretty good today. He’s going to get some snaps. He will play.”

Although Guice will start against Syracuse, Orgeron said he would be restricted to a “limited role.”

On his radio show Wednesday night, Orgeron said Guice would not play Saturday. Guice exited the Tigers’ 37-7 loss to Mississippi State last week with what Orgeron told reporters earlier in the week was a “minor injury.”

The SEC’s leading rusher last season, Guice has rushed for 300 yards on 57 carries (5.3-yard average) with four touchdowns. He has yet to break off the long rushes that were his signature last season, however.

Darrel Williams likely will season plenty of action Saturday for 25th-ranked LSU (2-1). He has 28 rushes for 159 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Orgeron also said defensive end Rashard Lawrence (ankle) would see limited action against Syracuse.
