Missouri starting quarterback Maty Mauk and reserve tackle Malik Cuellar were suspended from the team indefinitely Tuesday due to an undisclosed violation of team rules.

The punishments begin with the Tigers’ home game Saturday against South Carolina, after which the program will evaluate their status, according to an athletic department press release.

Mauk missed a team media session Monday due to family reasons.

A junior, Mauk has a 17-5 record as a starter for Missouri, which is 3-1 this season, 0-1 in the Southeastern Conference. In four games this season, he has completed 57 of 110 passes for 654 yards and six touchdowns with four interceptions.

Drew Lock, a true freshman, figures to start at quarterback against the Gamecocks. Lock is 15-for-25 for 225 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception this season. He appeared in all four games, with his highest passing total coming in a season-opening blowout of Southeast Missouri State.

Cuellar, a sophomore, was a transfer from City College of San Francisco.
