KEY MATCHUP: CBs Jaycee Horn, a true freshman, and Rashad Fenton figure to get a workout against Missouri and its prolific passer, QB Drew Lock. Fenton is the only South Carolina player with an interception this season. He has three. The Gamecocks also have seven sacks. Missouri has given up only three sacks in four games, and Lock has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for an average of 321 yards a game. WR Emanuel Hall is second on the team with 18 receptions and is averaging nearly 24 yards a catch.
DRAFT SLANT
–WR Deebo Samuel has seven receiving touchdown and 17 total for his career after catching a touchdown pass against Kentucky. The senior has 95 yards on four kickoff returns despite the efforts of opponents to kick away from him.
ROSTER REPORT:
–QB Jake Bentley is day-to-day after sustaining a knee injury that coach Will Muschamp said was not serious in the loss at Kentucky. Bentley is considered probable for this week’s game against Missouri.
–WR Bryan Edwards is probable despite an ankle injury sustained in the Kentucky game.
–LB Eldridge Thompson is questionable for the Missouri game because of a shoulder injury. He has five tackles in three games.
–DB Jamyest Williams is probable despite a shoulder problem. He has 11 tackles and a 13-yard fumble return in four games.
–WR OrTre Smith is having surgery for his chronic knee problem and will miss the rest of the season. He played in just two games so will be eligible for a redshirt season. He had three receptions in those appearances after making 30 catches as a freshman last year.
–WR Chad Terrell will make his season debut after recovering from a knee injury sustained in the spring. He had three receptions as a freshman last year.
–S J.T. Ibe has a knee injury and is not expected back until after the Oct. 13 bye week. He had nine tackles in four games.
–QB Michael Scarnecchia came into his senior season with only one pass attempt in his career, but he was 4-of-6 for 45 yards late in the game against Kentucky when Bentley was hurt. He is 7-of-12 for 89 yards in two appearances this season.
