GAME BREAKDOWN
KEY MATCHUP: South Carolina’s front seven will face a big test against Texas A&M RB Trayveon Williams. Williams took over the SEC rushing lead (720 yards) from Kentucky’s Benny Snell III after rushing for 138 yards to Snell’s 60 last week in College Station. The Aggies rushed for 164 yards as team while South Carolina gave up 286 yards on the ground to Missouri last week. LB’s T.J. Munson, South Carolina’s leading tackler with 30 stops, Bryson Allen-Williams, and Sherrod Greene are going to have to step up their game.
DRAFT SLANT
–WR Deebo Samuel had four receptions for a team-high 88 yards against Missouri, including a 37-yarder and an 8-yarder for a touchdown. He also had a 32-yard kickoff return among his two runbacks. For the season, Samuel has averaged just over 22 yards a return and has a team-high 26 receptions for 294 yards. He is a threat who must be accounted for in both phases of the game.
ROSTER REPORT:
–CB Jaycee Horn, a true freshman, earned SEC Freshman of the Week the week honors for his play in South Carolina’s win over Missouri. He was credited with breaking up four passes in Missouri’s high-octane attack and made a touchdown saving stop among three tackles.
–PK Parker White earned SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week after hitting all three of his field goal attempts and four PATs in the 37-35 win over Missouri. His 33-yard field goal with two seconds left was the game-winner.
–QB Jake Bentley, who sat out the win over Missouri with a knee injury, will start Saturday against Texas A&M.
–LB Eldridge Thompson will miss the rest of the season after having shoulder surgery. He has five tackles in three games.
–LB D.J. Wonnum is out Saturday with an ankle injury.
–RB A.J. Turner is questionable because of concussion issues.
–WR Bryan Edwards is still dealing with an ankle injury from last week but should play against Texas A&M.
