It had been 57 years since New Mexico State had played in a postseason bowl game, the longest streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision. With the fourth quarter winding down in the game against South Alabama on Saturday, the streak was headed toward 58. The Aggies were on their own 17-yard line, trailing 17-16.

Tyler Rogers came to the rescue, capping of an incredible offensive performance. The senior from Peoria, Ariz., who passed for 451 yards in the game, drove the team for 14 plays and had them at the Jaguars’ 7-yard line. Only 32 seconds remained in the game.

On the next play, fellow senior wide receiver Conner Cramer from Grand Bay, Ala., hauled in the scoring pass from Rogers, giving the Aggies the victory and a trip to the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl to face Utah State. It was Cramer’s only reception in the game and his second touchdown catch of the season.

Ironically, the last postseason game for the Aggies was the 1960 Sun Bowl and the opponent was … Utah State. New Mexico State won that one, 20-13.

Cramer’s reception is this week’s U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”

Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”
