Kris Bryant, 3B, Chicago Cubs
2018: The former National League MVP had his season marred by an injury to his left shoulder that dogged him for more than four months and landed him on the disabled list twice. His power waned dramatically; from May 15 through the end of the season, Bryant managed five homers and a .398 slugging percentage.
Forecast: Bryant was able to avoid surgery on his troublesome shoulder and seems like an obvious candidate to bounce back with a big year. We’ll use .270-95-23-75-5 as a conservative baseline and bet aggressively on the over. Bryant’s career highs through four seasons? A .295 average, 121 runs, 39 home runs, 102 RBIs, 13 stolen bases. He turned 27 in January.
2019 Projections: .275 avg, 33 doubles, three triples, 30 home runs, 100 RBIs, 99 runs scored, five stolen bases.
