The Atlanta Braves tabbed veteran right-hander Tim Hudson to start Opening Day, scheduled for April 1, at home, against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Hudson, 37, posted a 3.62 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 179 innings last season, and will head a rotation that includes Paul Maholm, Kris Medlen, Mike Minor and Julio Teheran.

Fantasy Status: Even though Hudson is getting up there in years, he will be the ace of the staff on one of the best teams in the National League. Hudson is not a big strikeout guy (102 Ks last season in 179 innings pitched), but he should be one of the top pitchers in fantasy as far as wins and WHIP are concerned. The Braves are also one of the top fielding teams in baseball and a new-look lineup that features brothers Justin and B.J. Upton should only help every Atlanta starting pitcher.
