Baltimore Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman is likely headed to the disabled list due to right shoulder discomfort.

Tillman, tied for third in the American League with 15 wins, had a start pushed back three days last week because of right shoulder discomfort. According to Orioles manager Buck Showalter, Tillman did not have a good workout Tuesday, prompting the team to lean toward putting him on the DL.

Pitching on eight days’ rest Saturday against the Houston Astros, Tillman lasted only two-plus innings, giving up six runs on six hits and five walks in a 12-2 loss.

For the season, the 28-year-old veteran is 15-5 with a 3.76 ERA. He went 8-0 with a 2.49 ERA in a stretch of 11 starts from April 21 to June 14, and he won each of his first five starts in July.

In his past five starts, Tillman is 1-3 with a 6.66 ERA.

The only other Orioles pitcher with more than seven wins is reliever Mychal Givens, who is 8-1.
