Chicago Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks will come off the injured list to make a Tuesday start at the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team announced Sunday.

Hendricks has been on the injured list since June 15 because of shoulder inflammation. The Cubs deemed him ready after two bullpen sessions, including a 45-pitch effort Saturday.

“My bullpen went great,” he said via ESPN. “It was awesome. Everything went great.”

Manager Joe Maddon said Hendricks would have a 75-pitch limit on Tuesday.

Hendricks has been one of the Cubs’ steadiest starters this season, posting a 7-5 record with a 3.36 ERA in 14 starts. Hendricks, 29, had won six consecutive decisions before a loss at the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 14 in which he gave up five runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Hendricks would be set up to get two starts before the All-Star break, as his turn in the rotation would come up Sunday at the Chicago White Sox.

His return comes as left-handed starter Cole Hamels (6-3, 2.98 ERA) went on the 10-day injured list Saturday because of an oblique strain.
