Mets agree to deal with veteran 2B Lowrie

The New York Mets have agreed to terms with second baseman Jed Lowrie on a two-year $20 million contract, according to MLB.com. The deal is pending a physical.

Lowrie, a switch-hitter, hit .267 with a career-high 23 home runs, 37 doubles, a triple and 99 RBIs last season with the Oakland A’s. He earned the first All-Star game berth of his career after hitting .285 with 16 home runs with 25 doubles and 62 RBIs in the first-half of the season.

For the season, Lowrie hit .324 with 14 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 68 RBIs with runners in scoring position.
