PHOENIX — Washington Nationals All-Star right-hander Stephen Strasburg was lifted Sunday after pitching two scoreless innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Nationals did not offer an explanation for Strasburg’s early departure or indicate if it was injury related. The team does not make injury updates during games.

The Nationals were leading 5-0 at the time he was removed from the game. He walked three but gave up only one hit and struck out two, throwing 29 of his 51 pitches for strikes.

Strasburg has been injury-free this season but has a lengthy list of problems that date to his rookie season in 2010. He tore an elbow ligament that season and needed Tommy John surgery that kept him out for all but five games in 2011.

He was on the disabled list four times during the 2015 and 2016 seasons and limited to 19 starts last season by a sore right elbow and an upper back strain.

Strasburg is 10-3 with a 3.25 ERA this season in 20 starts, striking out 141 in 121 2/3 winnings.
