DENVER — San Diego Padres starter Andrew Cashner left with upper-back and neck tightness after throwing six pitches against the Colorado Rockies on Friday. He struck out Charlie Blackmon and departed after throwing a first-pitch ball to DJ LeMahieu.
Luis Perdomo came on and gave up an infield single to LeMahieu followed by Nolan Arenado’s two-run homer, his 19th of the season.
Cashner took the mound with a 3-5 record and 4.78 ERA. He was facing the Rockies for the second straight start. Last Saturday at San Diego, he allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings and was the winner in the Padres’ 4-3 victory.
