Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre made his 2017 debut Monday night after he missed the first 51 games of the season with right calf tightness.

The Rangers reinstated Beltre on Monday and he was in the starting lineup, playing third base and batting cleanup. His last game with Texas was in spring training on March 26 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Beltre opened the season on the disabled list with a right calf injury and then experienced extra soreness after a workout on April 8.

On April 11, the club announced MRI results, a mild grade-1 strain in his right calf, a different area of the calf than the injury that caused his season-opening disabled list stint.

The 38-year-old Beltre entered this season with 2,942 hits, 35th in major league history and one behind Frank Robinson (2,943).

The Rangers also optioned infielder/outfielder Drew Robinson to Triple-A Round Rock.
