Indianapolis Colts quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was participating in practice as normal on Wednesday and he is expected to start Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Hasselbeck, who left last Sunday night’s 45-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fourth quarter with shoulder and neck injuries, said after the game that he was unsure if he would be able to start this week.

The 40-year-old Hasselbeck said that he initially got hurt in the first quarter before a third-quarter hit brought the medical staff onto the field. Charlie Whitehurst played the final two drives against the Steelers.

Coach Chuck Pagano said Monday that he expected Hasselbeck would be able to go and the first full practice of the week supported that feeling.

“(Doctors) tell me they pretty much feel like he’ll be on the practice field and ready to go on Wednesday,” Pagano said Monday. “If we have to monitor or limit some reps, certainly we’ll do that. But we’re confident he should be all right.”

With Andrew Luck still sidelined by a lacerated kidney and shoulder injury, Hasselbeck would be making his sixth start of the year. Hasselbeck won his first four starts in 2015.

Luck was not practicing on Wednesday. Owner Jim Irsay said Sunday that Luck might be ready to play in Week 15.

After winning his first four starts in 2015, Hasselbeck struggled on Sunday, finishing 16-of-26 passing for 169 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He was sacked twice. Whitehurst was 4-of-8 passing for 51 yards and was sacked three times in his debut with the Colts.
