Odell Beckham Jr. agreed to a five-year, $95 million contract extension with the New York Giants that makes him the highest-paid wide receiver in football, multiple media outlets reported Monday.
Beckham will receive $65 million in guaranteed money, per reports.
The deal surpasses the $17 million annual salary of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and tops the $55 million in guarantees of Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans.
Beckham reportedly told those close to him that a deal is “in place,” according to USA Today.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection was scheduled to make $8.5 million this season on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. He had been seeking a contract extension for nearly two years.
Beckham had stated that he wanted a deal that would pay him upwards of $100 million ($20 million per year).
The 25-year-old Beckham played in just four games last season before suffering a broken ankle that ended his 2017 season. He has not played in the Giants’ preseason games, but he is expected to be ready for the Sept. 9 regular-season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Beckham had at least 90 catches, 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of his first three NFL seasons.
He reached 200 receptions and 3,000 receiving yards in just 30 games, getting to those milestones faster than anyone in NFL history.
Beckham has caught 313 passes for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns in 47 games over four seasons.
In four games last season, Beckham had 25 receptions for 302 yards and three touchdowns before suffering an injury that required surgery.
