NEW YORK — Matt Wisler and Arodys Vizcaino combined on a one-hitter Tuesday night as the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 3-0 Tuesday at Citi Field.

Wisler took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, when Asdrubal Cabrera dropped a soft single into center field. Cabrera represented the tying run at the time, but on the next pitch, Kevin Plawecki bounced into a double play.

The 23-year-old right-hander threw eight innings, striking out four and walking two. Vizcaino finished off Atlanta’s first one-hitter since Jair Jurrjens had one on July 1, 2011, by pitching a perfect ninth for his third save in four chances.

Cubs 7, Pirates 1

PITTSBURGH — Jake Arrieta pitching seven scoreless innings to extend his regular-season winning streak to 17 games as Chicago beat Pittsburgh.

Arrieta (6-0) allowed just two hits while striking out five and walking two to improve to 17-0 with a 0.55 ERA in 18 starts since last Aug. 1.

Arrieta also became the first Cubs in more than a century to win his first six starts in a season. Hall of Famer Moredcai “Three Finger” Brown did so in 1908.

Indians 7, Tigers 3

CLEVELAND — Francisco Lindor had three hits, including a three-run home run, and unbeaten Josh Tomlin pitched six innings as Cleveland beat Detroit.

Lindor had a single, a double and a home run in the first five innings as the Indians roughed up Justin Verlander, who lasted just five innings and gave up seven runs.

The game was the opener of a six-game homestand for the Indians, who snapped a streak of playing six consecutive one-run games.

Orioles 4, Yankees 1

BALTIMORE — Chris Tillman tied a career high with nine strikeouts, Mark Trumbo homered twice and Baltimore extended New York’s losing streak to six games.

Last-place New York also fell to 3-7 against its American League East opponents.

Tillman won his second straight start, allowing just one run on five hits over seven innings. It was also his longest outing of the year.
