Atlanta Braves right-hander Mike Soroka left his start Sunday at Washington after being struck on the right forearm by a 93.3 mph fastball from Nationals right-hander Austin Voth in the third inning.
X-rays reportedly came back clean, with Soroka telling 680 The Fan that “it feels like a bruise.”
“I’ve been hit by enough pucks, baseballs in my lifetime to know the aftermath. It’s just a bruise,” the Calgary, Alberta native said following the Braves’ 4-3 win in 10 innings.
Voth was called up from the minors on Sunday.
Soroka, 21, entered the game with eight wins in a row and a mark of 8-1 with ERA of 2.12.
Soroka exited in a scoreless tie after allowing one hit in two innings. He was replaced in the bottom half of the third inning by Josh Tomlin.
