The Atlanta Braves placed catcher Brian McCann on the 10-day injured list on Sunday and recalled Alex Jackson from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his place.

Jackson will start Sunday’s game against the Miami Marlins in his major league debut.

McCann, 35, suffered a strained right hamstring while running the bases in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Marlins.

His replacement in the game, Tyler Flowers, was hit on the right hand by a pitch but X-rays were negative.

McCann returned to the Atlanta Braves on a one-year, $2 million contract this offseason. He was a seven-time All-Star for the Braves between 2005-13.

McCann became a free agent when the Houston Astros declined his $15 million option for 2019.

So far this season, McCann is batting .286 with 4 RBIs.
