The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Dylan Bundy on the 10-day injured list Saturday with right knee tendinitis.
Bundy said he felt something in his knee while warming up before Friday’s start against the Tampa Bay Rays. He wound up allowing a season-high seven runs on eight hits in the first inning of a 16-4 loss.
Bundy, 26, fell to 4-11 and saw his ERA climb to 5.28 through 18 starts.
“My knee’s a little sore, but I just wasn’t locating and didn’t really have any good movement on my pitches,” he said after Friday’s game. “They came out aggressive and were hitting the ball where there’s plenty of grass. I couldn’t slow them down.”
Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde said he wasn’t sure how long Bundy would be out.
“I give credit to a guy who tries to gut through stuff,” Hyde said. “Dylan’s obviously a really tough kid. I probably would like to know, but I give him a lot of credit for trying to grind through things.”
The Orioles called up right-hander Tayler Scott from Triple-A Norfolk to replace Bundy on the roster.
Scott, 27, was acquired off waivers from Seattle on June 25. He appeared in five games (two starts) for the Mariners, posting a 9.39 ERA in 7 2/3 innings.
