The Baltimore Orioles and catcher Welington Castillo agreed to a one-year, $6 million contract on Wednesday.

The deal, pending a medical review, includes a player option for $7 million for the 2018 season.

Castillo comes from the Arizona Diamondbacks, with whom he batted .264 with 14 homers and 68 RBIs in only 113 games last season. The 29-year-old replaces Matt Wieters, who became a free agent after spending his entire career with the Orioles.

Castillo threw out 38 percent of basestealers last season, but he also allowed 10 passed balls — the most in the National League.

Castillo has a .255 career batting average with 60 home runs and 230 RBIs over 1,904 games.
