Outfielder-first baseman Efren Navarro was shipped to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday in a deal with the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations.

The Angels had designated Navarro for assignment last week before making the trade.

To create space on the 40-man roster, the Orioles designated outfielder L.J. Hoes for assignment. Hoes came to Baltimore in November from the Houston Astros in a trade last November.

In 54 games for the Angels last season, the 29-year-old Navarro batted .253 with no home runs and five RBIs. He also hit .329 with two home runs and 29 RBIs in 72 games for Triple-A Salt Lake.

All of Navarro’s 130 career major league appearances have come with the Angels. He has a .246 batting average and one homer in the big leagues. In nine minor league seasons, Navarro has a .300 average with 48 homers and 495 RBIs.
