Right-hander Joe Kelly and the Boston Red Sox agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.6 million contract to avoid arbitration on Friday.
Kelly went 10-6 with a 4.82 ERA in 25 starts this past season. He finished strong after a rough start, going 8-0 from Aug. 1 before being shut down on Sept. 9.
This was the first year Kelly was eligible for arbitration.
Left-hander Robbie Ross Jr. and right-hander Junichi Tazawa are Boston’s only arbitration-eligible players who have yet to re-sign with the team.
The Red Sox haven’t gone to arbitration with a player since 2001.
