Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was a unanimous selection as National League Rookie of the Year in balloting announced on Monday.

Bryant slugged 26 homers and had 99 RBIs while helping the Cubs reach the NL Championship Series. He batted .275 with an on-base percentage of .369.

Bryant was named first on all 30 ballots submitted by member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of American. He had 150 points, well ahead of San Francisco third baseman Matt Duffy (70) and Pittsburgh infielder Jung Ho Kang (28).

The 23-year-old Bryant stole 13 bases and played in 151 games despite beginning the season in the minor leagues. He also struck out more times (199) than any hitter in the National League.

Bryant was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2013 draft after winning the Golden Spikes award as the best amateur player. He played collegiately at the University of San Diego.
