The Chicago Cubs placed right-hander Kyle Hendricks on the 10-day injured list Saturday, one day after he struggled during a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Cubs said Hendricks is suffering from shoulder inflammation. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings against the Dodgers and gave up five runs and six hits.

Hendricks, who is 7-5 with a 3.36 ERA in 14 starts this season, had won three straight starts and six consecutive decisions prior to Friday’s rough outing.

“My fastball wasn’t quite working, didn’t have it down in the zone enough,” Hendricks told reporters after Friday’s game. “I was missing up when I was trying to go up too many times. Everything works off my fastball for me.”

The Cubs recalled right-hander Rowan Wick from Triple-A Iowa to fill the roster opening. Wick, 26, has a 2.30 ERA and three saves in 19 appearances for Iowa.
