The Cincinnati Reds agreed to terms with right-handed reliever Drew Storen on Tuesday, the team announced.

The 29-year-old Storen agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal. He could make an additional $1.5 million in performance bonuses.

Storen split last season between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners and went 4-3 with a 5.23 ERA in 57 appearances overall in 2016.

Storen will receive the opportunity to win the closer’s job in spring training. He had a career-best 29 saves for the Washington Nationals in 2015.

“One of the primary targets for us in terms of addressing our bullpen was getting a guy that did have experience at the back end,” general manager Dick Williams told reporters. “Also, we had trouble throwing strikes last year. Drew has been a consistent performer.”

Cincinnati relievers served up 103 homers last season and the pitching staff set a major league mark by allowing 258.

Storen grew up in Indianapolis and said he used to make trips to Cincinnati to see the Reds play.

“It’s going to be pretty cool,” Storen said during a conference call. “For Halloween, I was (former Reds third baseman) Chris Sabo multiple times. It’s nice to have your name on a jersey.”

Storen broke into the majors with the Nationals in 2010. He is 25-16 with a 3.31 ERA and 98 saves over seven big-league campaigns.
