The Colorado Rockies activated infielder Daniel Murphy from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

He suffered a broken left index finger in the second game of the season.

He is scheduled to play first base and bat third when the Rockies play the Washington Nationals Wednesday night.

Murphy, who signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Rockies in December, was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 1, his 34th birthday.

The three-time All-Star was 1 for 10 and scored a run in two games against the Miami Marlins to start the season.

Murphy is a .299 career hitter with 122 homers and 641 RBIs over 11 seasons with the New York Mets (2008-15), Washington Nationals (2016-18) and Chicago Cubs (2018).

In a corresponding move, the Rockies sent right-hander Jeff Hoffman to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Hoffman, 26, started one game for the Rockies this season. He is 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA, giving up six runs in five innings in a 6-3 loss to the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
