The Colorado Rockies declined the $9 million mutual option on first baseman Justin Morneau and bought out the 2014 National League batting champion for $750,000.

Morneau played in just 49 games last season due to concussion issues and batted .310 with three homers and 15 RBIs. He batted .319 with 17 homers and 82 RBIs in 2014 when he was the NL’s top hitter.

The 34-year-old Morneau spent most of his career with the Minnesota Twins and was American League MVP in 2006. He was a four-time All-Star with Minnesota.
