Outfielder Charlie Blackmon on Monday agreed to a one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies and avoided arbitration.

According to multiple reports, the deal is worth $3.5 million. This was the first year the 29-year-old center fielder was eligible for arbitration.

Blackmon had been asking for $3.9 million, while the Rockies originally balked and offered $2.7 million.

Blackmon earned $517,500 last year, when he compiled a .287 batting average with 17 homers and 58 RBIs mostly from the leadoff spot. He recorded career highs in doubles (31), triples (nine), stolen bases (43), runs (93) and games (157).

Blackmon was an National League All-Star reserve in 2014.

The Rockies outfield now includes Corey Dickerson, Carlos Gonzalez, Blackmon and recently signed Gerardo Parra.
