ATLANTA — Second baseman Jose Peraza went into last season with the Gwinnett Braves ranked as Atlanta’s top prospect. Now the 21-year-old native of Venezuela has been traded twice in less than five months.

Peraza, dealt to Los Angeles along with left-handed starter Alex Wood last July for Hector Oliveras, was part of the three-team deal by the Dodgers with Cincinnati and the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.

The big name in the trade was National League all-star third baseman Todd Frazier, who went from the Reds to Chicago.

The Dodgers received three prospects from the White Sox – outfielder Trayce Thompson, second baseman Micah Johnson and pitcher Frankie Montas – and dealt three to the Reds.

Peraza went to Cincinnati along outfielder Scott Schebler and infielder Brandon Dixon.

The Reds, like the Braves, are rebuilding and the acquisition of Peraza could mean that second baseman Brandon Phillips is the next player to go.

Peraza made his major league debut with the Dodgers late last year but had just four hits in 22 at-bats. He batted a combined .293 with 33 stolen bases last season for Gwinnett and Oklahoma City, the Dodgers’ Triple-A team.

A total of 13 players were involved in last July’s controversial Braves-Dodgers trade, which included a third team. Oliveras didn’t make a good first impression and is being moved from third base to left field by Atlanta.

Peraza was ranked as the Dodgers’ No. 4 prospect and had earlier been rumored to be part of a trade for Reds closer Aroldis Chapman that fell through.
