The New York Yankees claimed outfielder Lane Adams off waivers from the Kansas City Royals on Friday and designated infielder Ronald Torreyes for assignment.

In seven minor league seasons, Adams owns a .270 career batting average, 58 home runs, 296 RBIs and 164 stolen bases in 668 games. The Talihina, Okla., native was originally selected by the Royals in the 13th round of the 2009 draft. Adams was designated for assignment by Kansas City on Jan. 6.

Torreyes, 23, had been acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Jan. 12. The Venezuela native made his major league debut with the Dodgers in 2015, going 2-for-6 in eight games.
