The New York Yankees acquired left-handed All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

The Yankees will send right-handers Caleb Cotham and Rookie Davis and infielders Eric Jagielo and Tony Renda to Cincinnati.

The deal comes three weeks after a proposed trade to send Chapman to the Los Angeles Dodgers broke down after reports that police investigated an accusation of domestic violence involving the pitcher in October.

The Yankees had their own All-Star reliever in left-hander Andrew Miller as closer last season. He could be a set-up man in a reconfigured bullpen or Miller might be dealt for a starting pitcher.

The Reds traded their other 2015 All-Star, third baseman Todd Frazier, to the Chicago White Sox in a three-team deal that brought back another three-prospect package in return.

According to reports, more than a dozen police officers responded to Chapman’s home in Florida on Oct. 30.

The Davie (Fla.) Police Department released a report that stated there was insufficient evidence to charge Chapman because of conflicting stories, the absence of physical injuries and no cooperating witnesses.

A National League All-Star in each of the last four seasons (2012-15), the 27-year-old Chapman went 4-4 with 33 saves and a 1.63 ERA over 66 1/3 innings in 65 relief appearances with the Reds in 2015. His 15.74 strikeouts to nine innings pitched ratio led all major league relievers, while his 116 strikeouts ranked second behind.

Chapman, a native of Holguin, Cuba, recorded his 500th career strikeout on July 19, reaching the plateau in 292 innings to become the fastest to 500 strikeouts by innings pitched in major league history.

According to MLBStatcast, Chapman threw the 62 fastest pitches in the majors in 2015, with a high of 103.92 mph on June 29. He also posted the highest average fastball velocity in the majors (99.96 mph).

Chapman tossed the ninth inning for the National League in the All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park, striking out all three batters he faced.

Over six career major league seasons (2010-15), Chapman has gone 19-20 with 146 saves, a 2.17 ERA over 319 innings, with 155 walks and 546 strikeouts in 324 relief appearances.

Chapman is eligible for free agency after next year’s World Series.

Cotham, 28, made his major league debut with the Yankees in 2015, going 1-0 with a 6.52 ERA over 9 2/3 innings in 12 relief appearances. He spent the majority of the season in the minors, combining to go 6-4 with two saves and a 2.21 ERA over 57 innings in 35 relief appearances with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Davis, 22, began the 2015 season with Class A Tampa, going 6-6 with a 3.70 ERA over 97 1/3 innings, with 105 strikeouts, in 19 starts.

Jagielo, 23, spent the 2015 season with Double-A Trenton, batting .284 with nine home runs and 35 RBIs in 58 games en route to being named an Eastern League All-Star.

Renda, 24, hit .270 with two homers and 21 RBIs in 73 games with Double-A Trenton after being acquired by the Yankees from Washington on June 11. He began the season with Double-A Harrisburg, batting .267 with one homer and 23 RBIs in 54 games.
