Kris Bryant belted his first home run of the spring, a grand slam in the fourth inning to power the Chicago Cubs to a 9-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kyle Hendricks, who led the majors with a 2.13 ERA last season, threw 16 pitches over two innings in his first spring outing to earn the win.

The Cubs loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth. Jason Heyward drew a walk on four pitches to force in a run setting the stage for Bryant, whose line drive over the left-field fence put the Cubs up 7-2.

Yankees 11, Tigers 1

Gary Sanchez hit his second home run off Detroit pitching in the past week and New York routed the Tigers. Michael Pineda struck out five consecutive Tigers, four of them swinging, to complete two scoreless innings in his first spring start.

White Sox 10, Angels 2

Chicago almost pulled off one of the rarest of feats back-t0-back inside-the-park home runs in a four-run eighth inning. Peter Bourjos tripled and scored on an error by center fielder Michael Hermosillo. Eddy Alvarez followed with a true inside-the-parker on a fly ball to left field.

Phillies 7, Braves 4

The Phillies scored six times in the seventh inning to pull away from the Braves. Philadelphia pitchers limited Atlanta to four hits including home runs by Christian Walker and Rio Ruiz. Drew Anderson earned the win with three innings of one-run ball.

Orioles 1, Rays 0

Logan Schafer drove in the game’s only run on a ground out in the seventh inning to score Joey Rickard. Each team managed just four hits. Ubaldo Jimenez went three scoreless innings for the Orioles and Chris Archer went three innings and struck out five for the Rays.

Pirates 3, Red Sox 2

Pittsburgh strung together three singles and a walk for two runs in the second and three singles for another run in the third inning. The Pirates’ bullpen made those three runs stand up. Wade LeBlanc earned his second win of the spring.

Marlins 8, Braves 6, SS

Miami scored four runs in the top of the first inning with Dee Gordon belting his first homer of the spring. A throwing error allowed Martin Prado to score and Miguel Rojas drove in two with a double to left field. The Braves scored five times in the seventh to make it close but Marlins’ relievers Jarlin Garcia and Hunter Cervenka each pitched two scoreless innings to preserve the win.
