TORONTO — Kevin Pillar hit a home run with two outs in the ninth inning Sunday afternoon and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 3-2 to extend their win streak to five games.

Pillar hit his fifth homer of the season against Edwin Diaz (1-2). Ryan Tepera (3-1) pitched 2 1/3 perfect innings for the win as the Blue Jays completed a four-game sweep.

Justin Smoak lined his seventh homer of the season in the sixth to elevate Toronto into a 2-1 lead. Jarrod Dyson tied the score when he led off the top of the seventh against Dominic Leone with his first homer of the season.

Phillies 4, Nationals 3

WASHINGTON — Ty Kelly drove in the go-ahead run in a three-run ninth inning as Philadelphia rallied to beat Washington in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Shawn Kelley, who came off the disabled list Friday, started the ninth and gave up a leadoff homer to Aaron Altherr (2-for-3) to make it 3-2. Kelley gave up a double to center to Maikel Franco with one out and Cameron Rupp, who had two hits, tied the score with an RBI double. Koda Glover then gave up the RBI hit to Kelly.

The Nationals’ Bryce Harper, who was 2-for-4, homered for the second day in a row with a solo shot in the first to make it 1-0. Trea Turner, with just seven hits in his previous 44 at-bats, lined a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Nationals a 3-0 lead.

Tommy Joseph hit a solo homer in the seventh for the Phillies.

Cardinals 5, Cubs 0

ST. LOUIS — Adam Wainwright fired seven shutout innings and St. Louis blanked Chicago for its eighth win in its last nine games and handed the Cubs their seventh loss in nine games.

Wainwright (3-3) gave up just four hits, walking four and fanning three. Yadier Molina offered Wainwright all the support he needed with two homers, the first a two-run shot in the bottom of the second off Jake Arrieta (4-3).

The Cardinals upped their lead to 4-0 in the third when Matt Carpenter launched his eighth homer of the season. Molina capped the scoring in the eighth with a solo homer off Brian Duensing. It was the first multi-homer game for Molina since Aug. 21, 2011.

Trevor Rosenthal and Kevin Siegrist picked up the last six outs for St. Louis, polishing off its second shutout of the season and its first at home.

Marlins 3, Braves 1

MIAMI — Tyler Moore slugged a three-run, pinch-hit homer in the seventh inning, helping Miami snap a season-worst five-game losing streak with a win over Atlanta.

Moore, who went deep against R.A. Dickey (3-3), had not hit a major league homer since Sept. 20, 2015. It was Moore’s first pinch-hit homer since May 13, 2015.

Atlanta opened the scoring in the fifth. Ender Inciarte led off with a single, advanced to second when Adonis Garcia was hit by a pitch and scored when Nick Markakis laced a two-out opposite-field single.

Indians 8, Twins 3

CLEVELAND — Cleveland belted four home runs — two by Jason Kipnis — and Trevor Bauer pitched six strong innings at Progressive Field to halt a three-game losing streak and end Minnesota’s four-game winning streak.

Kipnis, who was moved into the leadoff spot in the order, had four RBIs and four hits. Carlos Santana moved from the leadoff spot to No. 5 and also homered. Lonnie Chisenhall hit No. 8 for the first time this season and he also homered.
