MLB Recaps: Wainwright, Peralta spark Cardinals win

Adam Wainwright pitched three scoreless innings and Jhonny Peralta drove in two runs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-2 victory over the Miami Marlins in a Grapefruit League game Tuesday in Jupiter, Fla.

Wainwright allowed three hits and struck out two in his second exhibition start. Peralta drove in runs with a triple and a double. Miami’s Tom Koheler allowed three runs and five hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Yankees 7, Rays 6 (10 innings)

Tyler Wade capped a three-run bottom of the 10th with the game-winning infield single as New York edged Tampa Bay in Tampa, Fla. Before Wade’s hit, Ruben Tejada lifted a sacrifice fly and Rashad Crawford hit the game-tying double. Willy Adames, Corey Dickerson and Ryan Brett hit home runs for the Rays.

Pirates 6, Braves 3

Austin Meadows hit a two-run home run in the first inning off Jaime Garcia and Pittsburgh beat Atlanta in Bradenton, Fla. Jose Osuna also homered for Pittsburgh. Garcia allowed two runs and three hits in three innings while Pittsburgh’s Trevor Williams also allowed two runs and three hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Red Sox 5, Nationals 3

Mookie Betts and Hanley Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the first inning and Boston beat Washington in West Palm Beach, Fla. Bryce Harper was 1-for-3 while Anthony Rendon had two hits for the Nationals. Boston left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez allowed two runs and four hits in three innings while Washington’s Joe Ross allowed two runs and three hits in 2 2/3 innings.

Phillies 11, Tigers 6

Brock Stasi hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning and Philadelphia outslugged Detroit in Lakeland, Fla. Bryan Holaday added a two-run home run for the Phillies. Justin Verlander allowed one run and four hits in three innings while Andrew Romine collected three hits for the Tigers
