Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa will begin a rehab assignment Monday at Triple-A Round Rock, according to mlb.com.

Correa last played on May 26 but then suffered a fractured rib that occurred during a massage.

Correa, 24, is hitting .295 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 50 games this season. The 24-year-old ranked second among major league shortstops in OPS (.907) in late May.

The 2017 All-Star is on the 60-day injured list and can’t return until July 26 at the earliest.

Infielder Aledmys Diaz (left hamstring strain) has also been out since May 26 and will join Correa in starting a rehab assignment Monday at Round Rock. Diaz was batting .286 with five home runs and 22 RBIs in 32 games.

Manager AJ Hinch said Correa’s rehab assignment likely will last longer.

“He’s more likely, given the schedule, to stick in Triple-A longer on rehab, and we’re excited to get him into games as well,” Hinch said, according to mlb.com. “He’s got a little longer rehab projection based on the injury and how long he did virtually nothing in terms of baseball.”
