2018: Bregman rocketed into the elite class during his second full big-league season. His batting average nudged forward just two points to .286, but he added 17 runs, 12 home runs and 32 RBIs from 2017 and reached base 278 times. Impressively, Bregman expanded his walk rate by nearly 5 percent while sharply reducing his strikeouts. He swiped 10 bases, running his two-year mark to 27-for-36 in stolen-base attempts.
Forecast: Third base is deep at the top, with Bregman joining Nolan Arenado and Jose Ramirez as potential first-round draft picks. There was nothing fluky about Bregman’s 2018 breakout; he could easily have a similar season, maybe even a tad better. Highly recommended
2019 Projections: .288 avg., 45 doubles, three triples, 28 homers, 101 RBIs, 103 runs, 12.
