Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine the severity of a hamstring injury.

Seager pulled up lame on the bases in the ninth inning of Tuesday night’s 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the game that “early indications” were that Seager had a Grade “2-plus” strain of his left hamstring.

If that’s the diagnosis, Seager could be lost to the National League West-leading Dodgers for about six weeks.

“I feel bad,” Roberts said. “We all feel bad for Corey.”

It’s the latest injury for Seager, 25, who was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2016.

He played just 26 games last season before requiring Tommy John surgery in early May. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left hip in August.

Seager got off to a slow start at the plate in 2019 but had found his groove, raising his average to .278 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs.

“Obviously very unfortunate, the way he’s been playing and what he means to our ballclub,” Roberts said. “As far as timetable, I think that we’ll know more [Wednesday].”

Seager has a lifetime .298 batting average through 421 career games.
