With 10 days before pitchers and catchers report for their first workout, the New York Yankees got a dose of good news.
Yankees’ ace Masahiro Tanaka threw off the bullpen mound during a workout Tuesday in New York. The prognosis after the workout is that Tanaka’s rehab is right on track.
He underwent arthroscopic surgery in October to remove a bone spur from his elbow. He originally was diagnosed with a partially torn elbow ligament in 2014. That season he 13-5 in 20 starts.
Last season, he compiled a 12-7 mark with a 3.51 ERA in 24 starts last year.
He did suffer the loss to Houston in the AL wild-card game.
