The New York Yankees activated catcher Gary Sanchez from the 10-day injured list in time for Wednesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.

The club also demoted right-handed reliever Chad Green and catcher Kyle Higashioka to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and promoted left-hander Stephen Tarpley from the same affiliate.

Sanchez went on the injured list April 12 with a left calf strain.

For the season, Sanchez has hit .268 with six home runs and 11 RBIs, although he also has four throwing errors.

Sanchez’s return will reduce the numbers on the injured list, which also includes outfielder Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Hicks and right-hander Luis Severino.

Green’s demotion to Triple-A could give him a chance to start over. He has struggled to open the season, going 0-2. In 10 games pitched, he has surrendered 14 runs in 7 2/3 innings for a 16.43 ERA.

Tarpley has been up and down already this season, appearing in four games. He has no decisions and an ERA of 6.00, giving up two runs in three innings.

Higashioka was 3-for-15 with one RBI in four games for New York.
