The Pittsburgh Pirates activated outfielder Gregory Polanco from the injured list prior to Monday’s game against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.

Polanco has been working his way back from major surgery on his left shoulder. He injured the shoulder and a knee while sliding into second base during a game against the Miami Marlins on Sept. 7.

Polcano is slated to bat third and playing right field in Monday’s game.

Polanco led the Pirates with 23 homers and 81 RBIs last season. He batted .254 in 130 games.

The 27-year-old was 8-for-33 in nine rehab games across two levels before Monday’s activation.

Pittsburgh optioned left-hander Steven Brault to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Brault is 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA in two appearances.
