The Pittsburgh Pirates placed center fielder Starling Marte and shortstop Erik Gonzalez on the injured list Saturday, one day after the two were hurt in a fierce collision.

Marte suffered a bruised abdominal wall while Gonzalez fractured his left clavicle in the collision during Friday’s win over the San Francisco Giants. Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list and Gonzalez went on the 60-day IL.

The two crashed into one another while pursuing a pop fly in the eighth inning. Gonzalez took the brunt of the collision but was able to walk off despite holding his left shoulder. Marte was down longer and rode off the field in a cart.

“It’s unfortunate. You hate to see your men laying on the field,” Pirates manager Clint Hurdle told reporters. “It was a yard sale out there. There’s hats. There’s gloves. That’s hard. We kind of got in a tough spot and ran into each other, both guys trying to make a play. That’s the hard part of it.”

Pittsburgh recalled shortstop Cole Tucker and outfielder Bryan Reynolds from Triple-A Indianapolis. Both players started Saturday’s game against the Giants in their major league debuts.

Marte was batting .203 with two homers and nine RBIs in 16 games, while Gonzalez was hitting .216 with no homers and two RBIs in 16 games.

Tucker was hitting .333 with three homers and seven RBIs in 13 games at Indianapolis. Reynolds was batting .367 with five homers and 11 RBIs in 13 games.
