The San Diego Padres agreed to a one-year deal with left-hander Clayton Richard, multiple outlets reported on Tuesday.
Richard returned to the Padres last August and went 3-3 with a 2.52 ERA in 11 appearances (nine starts). He spent the first four months of the season as a reliever for the Chicago Cubs.
Richard, 33, also pitched for the Padres from 2009-13. He won 14 games in both 2010 and 2012.
Richard is 53-53 with a 4.23 ERA over nine big-league seasons. He began his career with the Chicago White Sox in 2008.
