Veteran left-hander Brett Cecil and the St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a four-year, $30-million deal on Saturday.
The deal is pending Cecil passing a physical and could be completed as soon as Sunday, according to multiple reports. Cecil was the top lefty reliever on the market behind Aroldis Chapman.
The 30-year-old was limited to 36 2/3 innings last season because of injuries. He rebounded to post a 1.74 ERA over his final 30 regular-season appearances, striking out 30 hitters in 20 2/3 innings during that span.
