The Cleveland Cavaliers will interview 19-year NBA veteran Juwan Howard for their head coaching vacancy, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday.

Howard, an assistant coach with the Miami Heat, is one of a number of candidates expected to be interviewed. The Los Angeles Lakers also have received permission to interview Howard, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported.

Wojnarowski said Dallas Mavericks assistant Jamahl Mosley, Utah Jazz assistant Alex Jensen and Portland Trail Blazers assistant David Vanterpool also are among those expected to be interviewed by the Cavaliers.

Cleveland finished the season at 19-63, struggling in its first year of the post-LeBron James era. Star Kevin Love was limited to just 22 games because of injuries.

The Cavaliers abruptly fired coach Tyronn Lue in October after an 0-6 start and replaced him with assistant coach Larry Drew, who reluctantly took the job. He and the Cavaliers parted ways after the season ended.

Lue also is expected to be a candidate for the Lakers’ job.
