Kemba Walker scored a franchise-best 60-points, but it was not enough as the Charlotte Hornets lost to the Philadelphia 76ers, 122-119, in overtime. It was Charlotte’s third loss to Philly this season by a combined six points with two losses coming in overtime.

“It’s frustrating,” said Walker. “I feel like we really deserved that win and it didn’t come out the way we wanted it to.” Walker gave a legendary performance on a night where the Hornets honored the 10 greatest players in Charlotte history.

With the score tied with 33 seconds remaining in OT, Walker tried to give the Hornets the lead, but Jimmy Butler partially blocked his shot. There was a lot of contact on the play, but the official elected not to call a foul. The 76ers got the rebound and held the ball for the final shot. Butler, acquired in a trade with Minnesota earlier this week, ran the game clock down and connected on the game winning shot 0.3 remaining to give Philadelphia the win.

Philadelphia coach Brett Brown called Walker’s effort ”amazing and incredible.”

”We tried double-teaming him, we tried hard-hedging him,” Brown said. ”The reality of it is, you have Joel (Embiid) and Jimmy in that situation a lot and he is doing that against two all-league defensive players. He is just hard to guard.”

“I was really proud of our effort. We battled tonight,” said Hornets Head Coach James Borrego. “The group that played the bulk of the fourth quarter and overtime, I was really proud of them. Kemba Walker is just an amazing ball player. He’s just an incredible ball player. What happened tonight was very unfortunate.”

Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 33 points and 11 rebounds, while Ben Simmons (23 points, 11 rebounds) also recorded a double-double. JJ Redick scored 23 points and Butler added 15 points for Philadelphia. Jeremy Lamb recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists for the Hornets. Cody Zeller (10 points) was the only other Hornets player to score in double figures.

The Charlotte Hornets 30th Anniversary Team was recognized at halftime of the game. Along with current Hornets guard Kemba Walker and FOX Sports Southeast analyst Dell Curry, the players attending included Muggsy Bogues, Baron Davis, Kendall Gill, Alonzo Mourning, Glen Rice and Gerald Wallace. Al Jefferson, who is playing this season in the Chinese Basketball Association, and Larry Johnson round out the 10-member 30th Anniversary Team.
