Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum signed a four-year, $106 million extension.

McCollum, 24, was the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2015-16, averaging 20.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in his first season in an expanded role after LaMarcus Aldridge departed before the season as a free agent.

McCollum and point guard Damian Lillard are the new foundation of the Blazers, who upset the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2016 playoffs before being eliminated by the Golden State Warriors.

The 10th overall pick in the 2014 draft, McCollum will play this season on his existing deal before the new four-year agreement kicks in next summer, when the collective bargaining agreement is likely to be adjusted and spending thresholds increase for teams courtesy of a new television and digital rights agreement deal.
