–Offensive coordinator Mike McCoy has been under fire and there seems to be an imminent chance of him getting fired for the second straight year near the midseason mark, just as he was last year in Denver following a 3-7 start.

Not that he’s apparently hearing any of the regular calls for his head, however.

“No offense,” he said Tuesday, “but I don’t watch a lot of TV, I don’t read papers, I don’t get on the internet. I’m too busy doing other things, like putting plans together. When my family is in town, I spend every minute I can with them or talk to them at night when they’re in San Diego.”

McCoy paused and then added, “I’ve been in this long enough.”

–Through the first six weeks of the season, the Cardinals rank last in total offense (averaging 220 yards per game), last in rushing offense (64.0), last in total first downs (76) and last in third-down conversion percentage (21.9). They rank next-to-last in passing offense (156.5), points scored (13.7 per game) and passer rating (69.4).

The Cardinals’ 1,323 yards also represents the fewest by an NFL team through its first six games since 2009. Their 302 offensive plays are the fewest by any team through that same time span since 2005. Their 76 first downs are the fewest by any team since 2009. And their 21.9 third-down conversion percentage is the lowest by any team since 2010.

–“I would say all our jobs are in jeopardy, including mine if we don’t win.” – Head coach Steve Wilks when asked if offensive coordinator Mike McCoy’s job was in jeopardy.

–Running back David Johnson will be making his 10th career appearance in prime time and he’s been impressive in those games thus far. In his first nine prime-time appearances, Johnson accounted for 763 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 151 carries to go along with 32 receptions for 273 yards and a touchdown. Arizona went 7-1-1 in those games.

–“It’s a fluid kind of situation. You have to earn the respect and I think I’m in the process of doing that. But I think we’ve got some great coaches, they’re asking for feedback and I’m willing to give them that feedback. But you also kind of have to know your place as a rookie. So I’m sort of finding that happy medium between taking as much control as you sort of deserve for the rookie status you’re in. However, I’ll never shy away.” – Rookie quarterback Josh Rosen on taking more of an active leadership role in handling the offense and challenging his coaches along the way.

BY THE NUMBERS: 25 – Receptions by wide receiver Christian Kirk, which leads all NFL rookies. Kirk, the Cardinals’ second-round pick out of Texas A&M, has at least four receptions in four of the last five games and at least 75 receiving yards in three out of the last four.
