Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey took issue with the inclusion of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the NFL Network’s Top 100 list, which was released Monday.

Ramsey said the sample size is too small for Garoppolo, who ranked 90th on the list after throwing for 1,560 yards and seven touchdowns to lead San Francisco to a 5-0 mark as a starter.

One of those starts came at the expense of the Jaguars. Garoppolo threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a score in the 49ers’ 44-33 win on Dec. 24.

Ramsey, who ranked 17th on the list, said to pump the brakes on Garoppolo.

“Not yet, not yet. What he play — five games?” the 23-year-old Ramsey told NFL Network. “He has good potential. I think he’ll be a good player, but off my experience in playing him, it was a lot of scheme stuff. It wasn’t like he was just dicing us up. It was a lot of scheme stuff.”

The 49ers see more than just potential in Garoppolo as they signed him to a five-year deal worth $137.5 million during the offseason.

Ramsey had seven tackles in the game against the 49ers. The former first-round pick finished with 63 tackles and four interceptions last season.

Tom Brady, who was Garoppolo’s former teammate in New England, was selected by his peers as the No. 1 player in the league for the second year in a row on the Top 100 list.

Brady, who also received the top spot in the poll in 2011, earned NFL Most Valuable Player honors for the third time in his career in 2017.
