On the 33rd year anniversary of Washington quarterback Joe Theismann suffering a gruesome leg injury, another Redskins signal-caller was carted off the field with a gruesome injury to his ankle.

Colt McCoy replaced Alex Smith in the third period after he was sacked by the Texans’ Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt. As he rolled over, Smith’s ankle was dangling awkwardly.

Smith had completed 12 of 27 passes for 135 yards with two interceptions before being hurt.

McCoy came in and completed an 8-yard TD to Jordan Reed on his first pass attempt of the season, cutting Washington’s deficit to 17-14.
