Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to miss a week with a calf strain.

Coach John Fox said Thursday that Jeffery suffered the injury during practice and was using crutches and wearing a walking boot. He is officially listed as day-to-day, but ESPN.com reported he is expected to be out another week.

Jeffery caught 85 passes for 1,133 yards and 10 touchdowns last season and has 198 catches for 2,921 yards and 20 touchdowns during his three NFL seasons.

Jeffery has joined first-round pick Kevin White on the sideline. White has missed all of camp with a shin injury and might not play at all this preseason.

With Jeffery and White out, Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson are the top receivers. In the Bears’ 27-10 win over the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, undrafted rookie Cameron Meredith led the way with four catches for 47 yards.

The Bears next play the Indianapolis Colts on Aug. 22.
